Long Island's Premier Rock & Roll Band

Band Bios

Steve Jaworowski - Lead Guitar, Vocals
I remember the first time I saw a live rock band playing “Don’t let me down” at a block party. I was around ten or so. That’s all it took I was hooked. What an awesome power, I thought that’s what I want to do. Of course I at the time I couldn’t play a note. I didn’t even own an instrument. But that didn’t stop me. I pretended to play the guitar on a baseball bat. I guess my parents figured that an acoustic guitar was less expensive then therapy so I was on my way. I learned to read music playing the trumpet in grade school, and taught myself the guitar. My early influences included Beatles, Clapton, Allman Brothers, Jeff Beck, and anything good. Along with my brother Rob and a few friends we formed a band of our own in Junior High School. Playing top 40 and some progressive rock by bands like Chicago (we had a horn section). We did a lot of party’s at school and for private functions as well. We won a Long Island talent competition. By the time I was in high School I played in two separate bands basically rock stuff. I played lots of gigs lots of places. I joke with people all the time that I’ve played in every bar on long island at least once. When we first started Vavoom we did a mix of covers and original music. We played a ton of showcases, even bringing a bus load of loyal fans into NYC. Our songs were played on WBLI and WBAB. Came close to selling a few songs but no luck as of yet. I’ve done a fair amount of audio work as an engineer for other bands as well, and some wedding gigs on guitar. Many great friends and musicians have been along for the ride. After all the years and all experience, like fine wine the band has aged to become a classy version of our earlier years. I still have Rob playing the drums, along with Bob and Dan. The band is better then ever. We really enjoy playing together. We work hard on the mix and quality of the songs we choose for gigs. I’d like to add more of our own songs in the future.

Danny Curcio - Rhythm Guitar, Vocals
Vocal Influences include: Lou Graham, Steve Perry, Sam Cook Spent most of the 80’s staying close to my rhythm and blues roots performing music such as Foreigner, Journey, and Motown. I Gigged around Long Island as a Vocal front man, mixing it up with covers and originals, occasionally filling in on rhythm guitar and keyboards. Late 80’s joined an all RUSH tribute band. While in the band I formed my own 7-piece wedding band and began working steady as an MC/ front man. While continuing with the wedding gigs, in the Early 90’s I decided to try my luck at theater. It was a great experience for me landing lead roles in musicals like Jesus Christ Superstar and Leader of the Pack Around this time I was picked to go down to Nashville and be on the National Be a Star show for Country music (came in second place). I was dabbling in Country music and had written a few Country songs. While I was there I entered into a local contest and won. The prize was to receive top billing and perform for two weeks at the nightclub. After several years of catering halls and bridal ceremonies I wanted to get the creative juices flowing again. I took some time off to write and put out a few original solo CD’s. In the late 90’s I put together a Gospel album that featured student choirs at some of the Long Island High Schools. It was a great project that enabled me to really stretch the limits of creativity. During this time I began gigging again as a solo artist playing happy hours and private parties. Joined Vavoom in early ’04 and been having a blast. The band has great energy and a real fun sound. Occasionally I am asked to do the National Anthem at Political and Social Functions. As of recent, I sang the National Anthem at Citibank Park for the Long Island Ducks.
Rob Jaworowski - Drums

Bob Becker III - Bass Guitar

Influences: John Bonham, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Frank Zappa, Buddy Guy, etc…. Started drumming in the early 70’s and soon was part of a band playing backyard parties, garages, and basements everywhere. Drumming every day and night wearing grooves deeper into my Zeppelin records (yes, records) was all I wanted to do. Thanks to Mom and Dad, who never asked me to turn it down or stop practicing and letting us jam in the house anytime. We formed a band in the early 80’s (Free Buffet) and hit the local bars playing with great musicians from my hometown of Oakdale, Long Island ! I decided to spend some time with the guitar to see what it was like on the other side of the drums and later played rhythm guitar for a while still laying down the rhythm section. I never lost interest in music but was out of the band thing for a while just dabbling with my guitars, drums and 4-track machine when I was approached by Steve asking if I wanted to play bass for Vavoom? Bass? I never even touched one? Well that night I ran to the music store and bought my first of many basses and here I am still rocking after 10 years! It is great to be part of Vavoom as everyone really adds their special edge and the result is unbelievable fun!
